In late 2014, OHL Desarrollos purchased the historic Old War Office in London, in a joint venture with the Hinduja Group. This building, a heritage asset of outstanding historical and patrimonial value, will be converted to a luxury hotel and approximately 50 branded residences. As a result of this business operation, OHL Desarrollos has become an international reference in the development of high-quality tourist projects. In this specific case, the United Kingdom Ministry of Defense not only took into account the competitive price but also the project’s technical capacity and feasibility, both equally important.
The building is located in the historic center of London, 57 Whitehall, very close to Buckingham Palace and the House of Commons, Westminster Abbey, Downing Street and the UK’s most important institutions. It is particularly representative as it was the War Office and operations center of Sir Winston Churchill during the II World War.
In architectural terms, it is an Edwardian style building, with a gross area of 54,000 m2 and seven floors, including two underground floors.
